ESA (European Space Agency) RTD-project
Europe’s 1st satellite to the moon, SMART-1 had been started successfully.
This satellite uses an optical filter that had been developed by Supracon in cooperation with
OIB GmbH Jena (Optische Interferenzbauelemente).
Enhancement of the analyzing system had been achieved by combination of different filtering layers with well defined spectral properties on one chip i.e. up to now a processing optic for each single spectrum had been used and can be reduced to one by use of this new filter in the focal area of the system.
Know-How
Best results had been achieved by combination of processing of optical layers and photolithographic technologies in relation to conventional techniques.
Advantages of cold coating and sharp edges known on behalf of photolithographic masks were combined.
Application
The aim of SMART-1 mission is to analyse materials on the surface of earth by optical scanning of radiation.
